The Squat is THE Most Important Exercise in Weight-Training
Goodbye Bench-Press. Sorry Bicep Curl. If you're not squatting you're not achieving
By Courtney Krueger / www.TrainEatLive.com
The squat: any fitness guru performs this essential move on a regular basis. And if you don't? Well then you're not a fitness guru! Don't waste time putting on your spandex until you're ready to put the most important exercise at the top of your regimented work out list. If you're not squatting, then you're not doing squat for your muscle growth and strength building progress. You know the move, place legs hip distance apart, keep the back straight, stick the booty out, then squat to see how low you can go. (the lower the better) This move is referred to as the "king of exercises," and it sits on a throne looking down upon the exercise peasants.

Can the squat really help intense bodybuilders achieve, or is it all in their head? It is in their head, their pituitary gland to be exact. This is where the growth hormone responsible for muscle construction is released, and nothing stimulates this excretion process like an intense compound exercise. And no one is more complex than "the king," as his maneuver works the quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, calves, abs, and lower back as opposed to one sole muscle group. I'm not saying to ignore these other moves, but to acknowledge the squat first and put it on the pedestal it deserves. They say, "if you want bigger arms work your legs." Look at the squat as your base; it works your trunk, allowing all of your limbs to blossom. And the arms can simultaneously be worked by lifting free weights or a barbell while squatting, increasing the intensity. There are several variations of the squat, along with opportunities to get creative with this powerhouse. You can talk to everyone in the castle, but until you have approval from "the king," you're not going to advance.

Can this move benefit other fitness groups, the ones looking to lose instead of gain? Of course! The squat works more muscles in less time and will get you to your final fitness destination that much quicker. (regardless of your aspirations) This miraculous move will tone and tighten like no other. Never underestimate the supremacy of "the king," and let his power reign free in your body!
